Event Details

During this workshop/presentation, Bill Thwing will introduce you to the poetic art forms of haiku, haibun and haiga. He will introduce you to some of the classical masters of haiku and share samples of their work. You will have an opportunity to create your own haiku inspired by theirs. He will also share why haiku is such an essential tool in songwriting and share one of his songs. Be sure to bring pencil and paper.

Bill Thwing is a retired pastor having served 10 years in Canada and 30 years here in Cambria County. In retirement he has devoted himself to grandparenting, poetry and songwriting. He has published four books of poetic memoir concentrating heavily on the Japanese poetic forms of haiku, haibun and haiga. Google his artist name: Bill Thwing, and you can listen online to his songs, several of which are written using haiku.
